At CRC Behavioral Consulting, our behavior analyst provide a focused based approach to behavioral consultation. We make treatment decisions based on behavioral data not diagnosis or thoughts. Data is analyzed and visually displayed on graphs. We are a collaborative service. We make professional recommendations, it is up to the team to implement as prescribed, take data, and attend trainings. We use function-based strategies derived from Applied Behavior Analysis.
“Our mission is to use the principles of behavior analysis to shape behaviors that are meaningful and safe for the individual, while increasing independence and social opportunities within a community.”
Behavior Consultation also known as Therapeutic Consultation Service (TC), is provided through the Virginia Medicaid Waiver program. At CRC we provide behavioral services that are rendered by a Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analysts.
We conduct functional behavior assessments, develop functional based interventions, and provide behavioral training. LBA’s also collaborate with the client, and the client’s team to design measurable goals to decrease challenging behaviors across settings. Therapeutic consultation services are provided in person, and virtually in the client’s home, community, workplace, and day support.
Submit a completed referral form to a CRC Behavior Analyst. The Behavior Analyst will review the referral and determine if the client's needs are appropriate for the behavioral service. The Behavior Analyst will submit a request a justification of service to the support coordinator/ case manager for state approval. Behavioral Services will not start until a service authorization is approved from the Virginia Department of Waiver Services.
The Behavior Analyst will review the records and determine if the client's needs are appropriate for behavioral service. The Behavior Analyst will interview the client, and all service providers to identify the behaviors of interest, review history of behaviors, discuss situations in which behavior occurs and how often they occur. A data collection form is given for caregivers to take baseline data in multiple environments.
Once data has been captured minimally 10 days by caregivers, and behavior analyst has conducted in- person observations, A behavior intervention plan or behavior protocol will be created. An initial training will be scheduled with all caregivers and consent to implement plan will be obtained. An updated data sheet is also provided if need be. Frequency of behavior analyst visits are determined at the time of the initial behavior intervention training.
Behavior Analyst will follow up with plan implementation based on the needs of the client, and client providers. Behavior Analyst are always systematically making changes to the behavior intervention plan as needed based on data collection. Behavior Consultation services are continued until behaviors are significantly lower than baseline levels.
